Flatiron Sunset
The Flatirons are a prominent feature in the backdrop of Boulder, Colorado. More than that, they are the quintessential geographical feature that defines home for me. Mountains are where my heart lives, and these ones hold a special place. I was born in Boulder and went to college in Boulder, so these mountains bring me a kind of peace and awe that I don’t find many other places.
Watching the sun set behind these peaks is a view that never gets old. Each sunset is as unique as the stars in the sky with the blend of clouds, weather, and position of the sun throughout the year painting endless masterpieces for us to enjoy.
I sat and watched the colors change as the sun dropped lower behind the mountains. I felt grateful to have had the chance to move back to the area, closer to family, and to the places where I feel like I belong
Coming back to these mountains after living so far away for way too long, my soul settles a little more each time I take a moment to take them in and breathe.
I’m finally home.
